Makeup has come a long way! Yes, there are still many makeup products on the market that do not serve our skin but there are also options that can act as an extension of your skin care. Choosing pure mineral makeup with a zinc-based physical sunblock is a great way to improve the health of your skin and make it look very natural! After all, we really want to look like we are not wearing any makeup, don't we?
1. Zinc-based mineral primer: makeup primer is a product that allows the skin to have a smooth base so that powder does not settle in. Choose one that has at least 10% of zinc oxide to also give your skin protection from UV rays all year long. There are several primers from Colorescience that we can help recommend based on your skin type.
2. Eye concealer with zinc: the skin around our eyes is very thin, gets dehydrated easily and hardly ever gets protected from the UV rays. So, use a concealer that acts as an eye cream and also contains zinc to protect the delicate skin around the eye area and prevent it from forming sun spots and wrinkles. We love Total Eye from Colorescience.
3. Lip shine with zinc: our lips do not have the ability to form melanin and therefore do not have built-in protection from the damaging UV rays. If we use shiny glosses and lipsticks, they attract the UV rays even more. Reach for one that has zinc in it and reapply often. Our favorite is lip shine from ColoreScience in Champagne and Clear colors.
4. Mineral powder: This powder that is contained inside of a brush is a genius invention. We have found that it is the only way we can get our guests to reapply their sunblock on a daily basis. Because it does not contain any oils, it will not go rancid and therefore we like to keep it in the center console of the car and in our makeup bag on the go for easy touchups.
5. Hydrating mist: if you are using pure mineral makeup, hydrating mists make it come alive. Spritz and repeat anytime you need a refresher and as a bonus, it makes it stay in place and harder to rub off.
