If you love history and are coming to Hood River, Oregon, how about paying a visit to the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum? Since it’s opening in 1997, it has been a delight for many tourists and locals. This museum is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

You should, however, find out if these details remain the same during this pandemic. Here are some of the great exhibits that can be found in this museum.

  • The Ice Age Exhibit

  • The Wasco County Past & Present Exhibit

A favorite amongst many tourists, this exhibit is like a step into the past. It covers 17,200 square feet complete with replicas. You’ll learn all about how development happened.

  • The Geo. Lawrence Co. Harness & Saddlery Exhibit

George Lawrence and Co. was once the largest saddle maker in the West Coast. They eventually expanded into the production of saddles, holsters, belts, and more. Learn more about them and view memorabilia donated by the family itself at this exhibit.

There are Live Raptor Presentations that you should not miss when you visit. You can also get up close and personal with the birds of prey that thrive here during the presentations.
