September 7, 2022“Walk a Mile for Sickle Cell.” The Sickle cell Anemia Foundation of Oregon is hosting its annual run, bike, and walk-a-thon this September during National Sickle Cell Awareness month.
This will be the largest fundraiser of the year dedicated to this cause. Your help is needed in raising money to support families in the state impacted by sickle cell and bring much-needed awareness to the disease. It takes place next month, on the 10th of September, 2022!
There will also be a community marketplace feature with local artists and vendors offering unique items, incredible art, and music provided by DJ Get’em!
As much as your presence at this great walk will be appreciated, it is perfectly fine if you cannot be there in person. Still, donations are accepted, and any amount is appreciated. Sponsors are also needed at different sponsorship levels as well, so if you can, please take up sponsorship for a good cause.
The non-profit organization is dedicated to educating vulnerable populations and encouraging testing. Their immediate objective is to identify all the patients and carriers of sickle cell disease living in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington state.
In addition, they have made great strides in helping patients by facilitating easy access to appropriate health care providers and facilities.
This disease is a blood disorder that affects over 100,000 Americans and millions worldwide. It is painful and life-threatening, so every time, dime, and effort you invest in this cause will improve a patient’s life and the lives of their caretakers.
