The Columbia Gorge Guided Outings invite you to bring your canine friend and partake in the 9-mile hike on the 26th of April; that’s less than a week away! It’s an experience you don’t want to miss!
Hike leader, Don Mercy, will guide you and your canine friend, or just yourself, along the Hardy Ridge loop trail. It’s a trail of formerly old logging roads that wind through the backcountry of Beacon Rock State Park. You will be met with a beautiful view of Columbia Gorge at the top of the ridge!
Please be aware that the hike can be quite challenging because of its elevation gain of about 2000 ft. So, if you think this is too much for you, you may want to stay back. But for those who can brave it, you’ll love the experience!
You’ll see wildflowers blooming and a gorgeous view of the Columbia Gorge and the surrounding mountains. And although well-trained, leashed dogs are welcome, you don’t necessarily need a dog to be part of the hike.
If you’re coming with a dog, bring lunch, snacks, and lots of water for you and your dog (1 liter for every two hours). Come along with a doggy waste bag and other hiking essentials listed on the website. You will also find other details like what to wear, COVID policy, etc., on the event website.
The hiking event is scheduled to start at 9 am, and everyone is to meet at the Beacon Rock State Park Equestrian trailhead. Lunch break will be at noon, and the outing will conclude at the trailhead at 3 pm.
