February 25, 2020Hood River, Oregon is a town of about 6000 plus people and is quite an exciting place to visit. But you already know that that’s why you’re planning to come. You made a great decision. While in Hood River, there are lots of activities that you can participate in. For beer drinking and spending the night, the following places are great.
- Full Sail Brewing Company
Founded in 1987, Full Sail Brewing Company is an employee-owned brewery that produces some of the best beer in the state. It is also known for Amber, Pale and Pilsner which are its most popular ales. The tasting room, also known as the bar offers visitors every beer that is currently being brewed and customers can also order their lunch or dinner from a short menu.
There is a short 20-minute tour offered every hour on the hour from noon till 5 so if you do visit, we advise that you take this tour. It is a great way to learn about the brewing processes. After the tour, tourists receive a free Full Sail pint glass and a beer sampler platter. You can also find extra souvenirs like logo tee shirts, key chains, bottle openers, socks and more to take home.
- Big Horse Brewing Company
Big Horse Brewing Company is also another great place to go for a beer in Hood River and is located up the hill at State Street. You can also get hearty meals at this place and we’d recommend the Big Horse Burger or the Big Horse Gyro.
You’ll get lots of meat and a great view. It’s a great place to visit on its own, but you can pair a visit to this place with a visit to Full Sail by coming here to quench your hunger after time spent touring the Full Sail Brewing Company. You won’t regret it.
After having a great time enjoying both Full Sail Brewing Company and Big Horse, the nest on your mind will be sleep. Hood River has great places that you can stay at, but the following are the two most outstanding: The Hood River Hotel which is downtown and The Columbia Gorge Hotel which is a few minutes from downtown if you are headed back west on I-84.
- The Hood River Hotel
This is the town’s oldest hotel and is located on 102 Oak Street. You will find beautiful hardwood floors with a clean polished scent and antique decorations. You could also ask for a suite that comes with a bedroom, kitchen, and living room. It has amazing views of the river and downtown.
- The Columbia Gorge Hotel
The Columbia Gorge Hotel is located right off the river and north of the freeway and offers more seclusion and grandiose than The Hood River Hotel. You could also request the waterfall room which has great views of the waterfall on the north side of the hotel.
