Marchesi Vineyards were founded by owner Franco Marchesi, who’s personal love of exceptional wine was born in his hometown of Borgosesia, in Italy. He soon followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Achille, who was a much-admired winemaker. Thanks to a strong similarity in our climates and soils between Northern Italy and Oregon, Franco was able to plant his favorite Northern Italian grapes on an abandoned apple orchard here in Hood River. From there, his successes and the exceptional quality of his produce continued to blossom.
Their wines include the sensational 2016 Nebbiolo Riserva, tasting like a fusion of a Barolo and a Barbaresco, the wine features lovely cherry accents with just the right amount of tannins and acidity, to pay homage to the Italian style of wine that it is so strongly influenced by.
For visitors to the vineyard, the experience feels as if you have transported to Northern Italy itself. Grape vines adorn the outdoor patio, and frame the unforgettable view that surrounds the winery. Immersed within this elegant scenery, the team will invite you to taste a few glasses of their remarkable wines, making for an absolutely magnificent afternoon.
