May 21, 2020There’s no doubt about it, these are strange times that we’re living in. We’re all finding things a little tough right now, there’s no shame in admitting it. And these things can really take a toll on our mind and body.
These stresses, however big or small, can have the tendency to build up and leave tension in our mind and body. Unfortunately we can’t provide our lovely customers with our regular treatments right now, so in its place, we’ve put our heads together and come up with a round up of lovely, easy tips to help keep your mind and body alike happier and healthier while we stay in lockdown.
- Keeping to a schedule
Whether it’s regarding work or play, a to-do list can really help make you feel productive. There’s something really cathartic about closing off each task with a little tick. This action also helps your brain to mentally close off each task and mark it as ‘done’ in your mind once it’s finished. These little lists not only help motivate you to get these tasks done, but they also provide an extra bit of positivity in that they can help to remind you of everything that you’ve achieved when you look back at it come the end of the day.
While you’re feeling nice and organized, make sure you keep – designate separate spaces for work, rest and relaxation, if possible. Or, try to consciously tidy away all of your work equipment away at the end of the day, to separate work from rest periods in your mind
- Yoga
It’s been a wonderful way to alleviate stress and take care of our bodies and minds for hundreds of years. Lots of us are taking up a bit of yoga practice in our spare time at home, and it’s the perfect exercise to start during lockdown.
Whatever ability you’re at, with yoga there’s absolutely no shame in starting small and building your fitness up. It’s a lovely, welcoming sport. Did you know that there’s over 200 million yoga videos on YouTube? This will provide you with lots of opportunities to introduce the practice into your daily routine and help unwind your body and mind at the end of a stressful day.
- Sunshine
This is a simple tip, but it’s an easy thing to forget. Taking just 15 minutes to sit outside in the sunshine every day is a perfect way to boost your Vitamin D levels and keep you happy too. Take advantage of any lovely weather in any way you feel like – whether it’s a nice walk, having a read outdoors or even just taking your next tea break in the garden.
We all need to be kind to ourselves, and take positive steps every day to help keep ourselves as healthy and happy as possible. We’re a luxury spa based in Hood River in Oregon but, since you can’t pop out to visit us at the spa just yet, we hope these tips help you out in the meantime. We’ll be sure to provide our customers with some luxurious, relaxing treatments ourselves as soon as this is all over!
