October 10, 2019Fun Activities with the Winds and Waters of Hood River
October 15, 2019Hood River, Oregon boasts of farms that will provide you with fresh and natural foods because of the fertility of the lands in the Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge. You can bring home all the deliciousness ranging from apple cider to organic foods. It gets more interesting as the local farms invite visitors to see the farms and learn more about the process of farming itself, not just to purchase the variety of foods available. To achieve all these, visit the following farms and companies.
- Draper Girl Country Farm: This farm is situated just below the magnificent peak of Mt. Hood. In addition to being a picturesque setting, you will find some of the best pears and apples in the Gorge orchards. Also, the fruit stand is seasonal, not forgetting mouthwatering. What’s more?! Using the pears, cherries, and apples harvested from their orchards, the people at this farm provide can provide you with different kinds of ciders (depending on the season), pressed just for you. You can enjoy it at the moment as fresh as you get it, or you can save it in your freezer to quench your thirst.
- Hood River Lavender Farms: This farm is famous for its yearly Lavender Daze Festival. However, the owner also provides soothing teas, a customized “herbs de Provence” style blend and salt spiked with lavender, so you do not have to wait for the annual festival to visit the farm and pick from the variety of tasty recipes, all year round. At the Farm Stand in Hood River, you will find the most sought-after Lavender Pepper Jelly from this farm which you can use to enjoy your cheese with.
- Oregon Growers and Shippers: They make different kinds of honey and fruit blends, fruit butter, orchard preserves, all of which can be used to add flavor to your dishes. For instance, the fruit butters and jam can be used to enjoy waffles or pancakes made from Kelly Wheat. Kelly Wheat is made from the soft white wheat grown by the Kelly Family farmers.
Making food and fruit selections can be exhausting because you have to stock-up even while enjoying the visits to the lands. Now, what do you do after a day of grocery shopping? We recommend a spa treatment! Get that dirt off your nails, hands, and feet and get pampered. The best place you can get all of these is at Spa Remedease, right here in Hood River. Come and you will not be disappointed.
