Hood River has it all, doesn’t it? It offers activities centered solely around fruits and flowers, which isn’t really something most other places have. Blossom Time is unique in the way it gives you world-class fruit blossom displays and wildflower hikes.

It happens once a year during the month of April. That’s when all the snow has melted away and healthy fruit trees start budding. A few weeks later and these trees will be covered with white and pink blossoms, awaiting you to come and appreciate how beautiful they all are. You have roughly 3 days to enjoy this yearly display of flowers. The tips you need to do to make the most of it have been outlined below.

  • Day One – Hood River County Fruit Loop

Kick off the day with the County Fruit Loop. This 35-mile tour route is self-guided, giving you the freedom to move and explore at your own pace. Drive along the route and you’ll be bordered on either side by cherry, pear and apple orchards riddled with white and pink flowers.

Make your way to any orchard that holds your attention and you will be treated to cider, fresh-baked goodies, jam and other home-made snacks. The cideries are also great places to visit, where you’ll be allowed to taste hard cider made from all the fruits you’ve been seeing.

  • Day Two – Hood River

Hood River’s mix of museums and galleries, restaurants, locally-owned stores, biking and walking trails and craft breweries simply means you’ll always have a wealth of things to do when in the city.

On the second Saturday of April, the Hood River Farmers Market is held, and that’s an event you shouldn’t miss. If you care to know about the city’s history, you can gain access to the Hood River History Museum by walking along the Hood River Waterfront Trail. Honestly, there’s too much for you to see and do all in one day but these should keep you occupied and happy.

  • Day Three – Cider Tasting

The annual Hood River Hard-Pressed Cider Fest held in April is a treat for cider fans. It’s held in the Hood River Valley with pear, apple and cherry orchards dotting and coloring the land.

This festival is an opportunity for you to be enlightened on the processes involved in making cider, starting from how the fruits are grown. There will be more than 30 cideries in the event; the variety of ciders are even more, with nothing less than 50 ciders waiting to be sipped.

The live music, food from the many local restaurants and kids’ activities all make for a great sendoff for the Blossom Time until it rolls over the following year; but for you, the ride is not over just yet. Hood River still has other ways to make your vacation an amazing one, and it begins at a place called Spa Remedease.
