There is also the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum nearby which you can go to and hear the story of the Gorges’ natural and cultural history. The Columbia Centre for the Arts is also worth a visit.

Hood River is an excellent base camp for cyclists at all times of the year and during winter, is a great launching point for the Mosier Twin Tunnels Trail and the Lower Deschutes River Trail. You’ll also enjoy the services of many breakfast spots, coffee shops and take-and-go lunch offering restaurants.

You could also enjoy a family hike along the Hood River Waterfront Trail and stop at the Waterfront Park. You can then warm up at any of the nearby restaurants before catching a movie, swimming in the town’s indoor heated pool or taking ski or boarding lessons.
